03 · The right room

Made for real living rooms.

The EV 1202 Ref. is designed for living rooms and listening rooms, including larger ones, at a medium listening distance of around three metres.

That is where a well-designed two-way loudspeaker is the right tool: close enough for the direct sound to lead, large enough to need real scale. Placement, seating and amplifier are part of planning the system, and we plan them with you.

For very large rooms, where you sit five metres or more away, Credo builds a different tool: Cinema LTM.

04 · Development

Tested until it is ready.

Michael Kraske develops Credo’s loudspeakers by trying driver, crossover and timing options, one after another, until the design is right.

He grew up with music: cello from childhood, a youth orchestra, then years in recording studios, latterly in mastering. In 2021 he mastered Métamorphoses nocturnes for the Naïve label. That background shapes how he listens; measurement keeps the listening honest. The EV 1202 Ref. datasheet includes measurements to CTA-2034-A, the industry standard, taken from 70 positions.

06 · A family workshop

Credo began with loudspeakers and amplifiers built to individual customers’ wishes, under the name Kraske-Hi-Fi.

Rudolf Kraske founded Credo with partners. Together with his son Michael, he later gave the brand its current direction. Today Credo Audio Switzerland is part of Kraske electronics AG, and CNC work, crossover assembly and final assembly happen in-house, in our own workshop in Switzerland.

What is the Credo EV 1202 Ref.?

The EV 1202 Ref. is a slim passive floorstanding loudspeaker by Credo Audio Switzerland for living rooms and listening rooms, developed by Michael Kraske and built in-house in Switzerland since 2013. It is a two-way design with two 5.5-inch midwoofers and a 1-inch textile-dome tweeter, 123.4 cm tall and 18 cm wide. It is designed to bring full-size sound into a living room.

What amplifier does the EV 1202 Ref. need?

The EV 1202 Ref. has a nominal impedance of 4 Ω, with a minimum of 2.1 Ω at 39 Hz, and a sensitivity of 85.5 dB at 2.83 V / 1 m. Choose an amplifier that stays stable into low impedances. Credo recommends around 100 W RMS into 4 Ω for a medium-sized room and 60 W or more for small rooms; the right match also depends on listening level and room.

How deep does the EV 1202 Ref. go in the bass?
